5 of 5 Front Sight Replacement April 19, 2016
Reviewer: Stephen from Valley Forge, PA United States
Though the description says not for Generation 2, I installed it without difficulty on the Gen 2 model.  The Kel-Tec sight is all but worthless.  It is held onto the barrel with the plastic over a metal bushing that is Loctite(d) to the barrel.  To avoid destroying the removed sight (if you care), I easily removed it doing the following:

Remove the Kel-Tec forend.  Using a heat gun (not torch), heat the barrel adjacent to the sight, but not the sight itself.  Use channel pliers with the grooves covered (to prevent indentations on the softened plastic) to grip, test, and loosen the sight.  It slides right off the end of the barrel.

5 of 5 R6 Forend & R7 Front Sight November 21, 2015
Reviewer: Steve J from Somewhere in Missouri
Got these a while back and just now got around to installing them. Following the installation instructions, I was able to get both installed with a minimum of fuss (including getting the original front sight bushing off). A spare Burris Fastfire that's been sitting on the shelf went on the top rail. I thought it would be too low to co-witness, but when I turned it on the red dot was sitting right on top of the front post. I'll have to see how it looks once everything is sighted in, but it's promising.

Haven't shot it yet, but I'm hoping to get some range time tomorrow. So far this looks like a really good piece of equipment, but the best endorsement is probably the "that's cool" I got from from my 15-year-old.

4 of 5 Excellent Upgrade August 19, 2015
Reviewer: Christopher Denczek from Rockledge, FL United States
Old sight and bushing came of off with just a little extra heat applied.  My only issue came when others started crowding my space and my adjustment tool walked off along with the retaining spring for rear sight.  Got the sights zeroed at 25yds but my tool disappeared and I need the adjustment spring. Can't make any more adjustments to elevation/windage.  Do you sell the windage tool for the rear sight, as I can use my AR tool for the front sight.  Thanks.  I live in Rockledge and thought about just driving by to see if it could be fixed.

5 of 5 Wow!! August 8, 2015
Reviewer: Mike from Buffalo, NY United States
The quality and workmanship stand above anything I have purchased in a long time.  The sight is perfection!! It mounts easily and comes with its own adjustment tool.  For those hesitant removing the stock sight - DON'T BE!!  Watch some youtube videos as a reference, it really is a simple job.  3 steps:
1.  Using a dremel make one slice through the plastic sight base to the bushing.  Use a screwdriver or chisel to pry it off.
2.  Heat bushing until it can be rotated with a plyers, channel lock or visegrip.
3.  Heat once more and grab the bushing from the front and twist while pulling and it comes right off.  Wipe the adhesive off immediately and let the barrel cool down.

3 of 5 Sights are great if you can get the bushing off. October 20, 2014
Reviewer: John Eickhoff from Saint Louis, MO United States
The videos are most likely staged and reshot after the bushing is already removed.

2 guns.

I cut the plastic sight off with a Dremel (easy).

Gun 1:  Using the same heat gun in the video I could get  the bushing to rote some but never could get it to move forward.   Using 2 heat guns I could use a hammer and punch to tap the bushing forward.   This took hours of heating and tapping.

Gun 2: No matter how much heat the bushing would never move no matter how long I heated it.   I had to cut it off using a Dremel/metal blade.  I practiced on the bushing from gun 1. I then then carefully cut the 1 on gun 2 to a depth of ~3/4 of the bushing.  Using a screw driver in the cut I then popped the bushing off.  Even with practice I put about a 1/4" scratch in the barrel where I went to deep.  This process took 5 mins and no heat.    I would not recommend as you will at a minimum scratch your barrel.  Practice was a must.

The Red Lion replacement process was painful but worth it.

5 of 5 buy this! June 23, 2014
Reviewer: Santa from IN, United States
I've seen some complaints on message boards about these sights being "bulky" or odd looking, but honestly when you have it installed and it's right there in front of you, it looks great.  This sight is far, far superior to the factory sight.  I used a heat gun and moved around the factory sight for a few minutes, grabbed it with a pair of channel locks and rocked it back and forth until it came off, shim and all.  This piece is 110% quality and it was easy to install.  Yeah the price is a bit salty but it's worth every penny.  RLP needs to make a rear sight now....

5 of 5 Perfect April 5, 2014
Reviewer: Samuel Grove from Spokane Valley, WA United States
Mounted this front sight and a Tandemkross rear sight and only had to make a one click adjustment up on the front sight at 25 yards. FYI  use a square to help aline the front sight while aiming and resting the rifle on a hard FLAT counter top. Take your time until it looks right. Doing this I was within an inch of bulls-eye on my first shot!

5 of 5 Excellent Job March 28, 2014
Reviewer: Ralph Green from Hagerman, NM United States
OK, when I first looked at it on the website, I thought it looked a bit pricey.
After receiving it, I'm so glad I decided to spend the money.
Precision part. Extremely well built. Makes a great addition to the weapon, especially when you compare it to what it replaced.
Easy to zero. I installed it first with the gun folded, which gave me a simple alignment.
Then put a bore laser sight on it to fine tune it. Great results at the range.
Great job RLP

5 of 5 Maybe I won’t buy that red-dot after all. November 15, 2013
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Cincinnati, OH United States
I ordered the forend kit along with this front sight.  I placed late on a Saturday and received my package the following Thursday with everything in good shape, no damage.  I assembled it last night.  The only hard part was removing the metal collar under the stock plastic sight but that is not a Red Lion “issue”.  I took the gun shooting this morning.  WOW!!!  At 25 yards (indoor range) I was doing 2” groups with maximum deviation from point of aim of 1 1/4” on the first magazine.  Out of the 50 rounds I fired only two were more than 2” off point of aim (due to having miss-sighted on the right post of the front sight. d’oh) and 60% were within 1-1/4” or less.  Being somewhat new to shooting long guns I thought that was pretty fair.

Maybe I won’t buy that red-dot after all.
